Breast Reduction Surgery:

Am I a candidate?

Any woman that is in good health with breasts larger than her frame is likely a good candidate, but will need to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon before any kind of procedure is determined.

Will my health insurance cover the procedure?

If a medical concern, such as neck or back pain can be proven, insurance will most likely cover the procedure. You will need to check with your health care provider to see what exactly is covered with your policy.

What are the potential risks?

It is rare that loss of breast tissue may result due to insufficient blood flow. This is more so common in women that smoke. In some instances, surgical scars may stay raised and dark after healing.

How much pain can I expect to experience and how can it be minimized?

Mild to moderate pain may transpire for the first few days and can be minimized by pain medications that may be prescribed to you.

How long is the recovery period?

During recovery you can expect to feel sore, but in most cases, women begin to start feeling better again anywhere between 1 to 2 weeks. This will all depend on the magnitude of your procedure along with your intrinsic healing rate.

When can I get back to exercising?

After surgery, you will need to wait at least 3-4 weeks, possibly longer. Dr. Cusenz will be able to determine at your postop appointment when it is safe for you to begin exercising again depending on how fast your body is healing.

Eyelid Lift Surgery:

What is eyelid lift surgery?

Eyelid lift surgery is a surgical procedure used for eliminating extra skin, fat and loose muscle from the lower/upper eyelids.

Will an eyelid lift surgery reduce wrinkles?

An eyelid lift surgery will reduce the wrinkles on the upper and lower eyelids, but not around the outside corners of the eyes (the crow’s feet).

Will I have scarring after the procedure?

You will see some scarring right after the procedure is performed, but within a few months it should not be noticeable anymore.

How is eyelid lift surgery done?

A small surgical cut is made in the eyelid creases so that the extra skin, fat and loose muscle can be removed; after which, the incision is closed with fine stitches.

How long is the recovery period?

Following an eyelid lift procedure, you can expect for your eyes to look bruised or swollen and to feel soreness and tightness. This may last up to two weeks but will be different for everybody.

Are there things you shouldn’t do after an eyelid lift surgery?

There are some activities you should not engage in within the first week or so to prevent your eyes from becoming dry, such as: watching TV, reading, going on the computer and wearing contact lenses. Activity that promotes the blood flow to the eyes, such as: exercising, crying and lifting heavy objects should also be avoided. At your post-op appointment, Dr. Cusenz will be able to determine when the activities mentioned above will be safe to carry on with again.
